"Hacking Hours" Afternoon

As part of the Field Day Go & Robotics day, Golang Paris & MOVU Robotics invite you to an afternoon to discuss, explore — solo or in groups — the Go language at the intersection of robotics and embedded software.

All creatures who enjoy Go (and beyond), robotics hacking and programming are invited to come together and brainstorm on the topics of their choice, individually or in groups. A chance to meet people and present ongoing work.

Go & Robotics Field Day

Originally designed for systems and servers, Go is in fact a general-purpose language, perfectly suited to interfacing with other industrial systems. Upon discovering the activities of MOVU Robotics, who use it in their iFollow robot fleet management software, it seemed obvious to invite their engineering teams to present how they use Go in a logistics robotics context.

The idea resonated, and through discussion, it seemed worthwhile to seize this opportunity to make it something broader than a simple evening meetup — rather a full “field day” dedicated to discovery and exchanges between practitioners:

Go Introduction Workshop

As part of the Field Day Go & Robotics day, Fred Ménez, trainer at Scalera
and co-organizer of Golang Paris, will introduce about a dozen people to the Go language.

Of course, 3 hours will only allow an introductory overview. The idea is to help participants get their foot in the door — they can then stay and continue their exploration independently in the afternoon if they wish.

As robots leave the laboratory to move into warehouses, hospitals and industrial sites, a strategic question emerges: which language and system to pilot a distributed, connected and mission-critical fleet?

This question will be addressed on the evening of Wednesday March 11 during the next Golang Paris meetup in partnership with MOVU Robotics, as part of the Field Day Go & Robotics day.

Since its release in 2012, Go’s adoption in France has grown informally through interest groups communicating via meetup.com with minimal resources. While other ecosystems like PHP or Python quickly established representative and/or federating associations, probably because they reached a critical mass threshold confirming the value of organizing.

Reflecting its pragmatic character, the Go world has thrived without an association. Perhaps its growth has suffered slightly because of this. But that hasn’t stopped internet giants and unicorns from leveraging it for their technical transition.

Go Language Seminar at École Polytechnique with the Aristote Association

After the first French-speaking Go seminar initiated by Jean-Michel Batto of the Aristote association in 2016, nearly 10 years later this gathering returns to take stock of Go in 2025 in light of the burning topic of generative AI.

LLMs, vibe coding, RAG, agentic systems… in just a few years the intersection of deep learning with large language models has produced numerous generative AI applications for software development assistance and automation. These new capabilities, arriving in a short window of time, are upending frameworks and work habits and are subject to many questions and uncertainties.
